$100,000 Prize to the Top Startup
The GS Beyond Energy Innovation Challenge celebrates purpose-driven startups that address persistent and emerging energy transition problems. The winner of the challenge will receive a $100,000 cash prize, the top three semi-finalists will receive special consideration for a pilot project with GS Group and the top six startups will be invited to pitch energy industry leaders and investors in a virtual event.
Who Should Apply
Energy sector startups with MVPs or working prototypes in the earliest seed funding stage to those in later stages with customers.
Digitization of Energy
How we generate, distribute, and consume energy is being disrupted by low cost renewables, electrification, energy storage, and increasingly, the application of digital technologies, such as AI, ML, IoT, Cloud, and Blockchain. This category is for startups leading the effort to bring digital technologies into the analog world of energy.
eMobility in Cities
Cities are struggling to provide adequate, affordable, clean and safe transportation to their residents. Electric vehicles offer the opportunity to improve the quality of life in urban centers, but also places new demands on the electricity grid of cities. This category is for startups who are working to bring electrification of transportation to our urban centers.
New Fuels
Throughout history, we have found and exploited new fuel sources, from wood to fossil fuels, to renewables. We continue to seek new cleaner sources of energy, including Hydrogen, fusion, renewables, and synthetic fuels. This category is for startups pioneering innovative new fuel types.
